WHAT

The 2017 Del Rio Parks Foundation Education Series is free and open to all members of our community. The Series brings together knowledgeable instructors from around Del Rio to offer everyone a chance to learn something new.

All classes are free and fresh snacks will be prepared at each class. All classes will meet at the Del Rio Community Garden unless otherwise noted.

How Fresh is Fresh?
Instructor: Maria Onofre

Do you know where your food comes from? Join Maria and learn more about produce origins and also the best ways to ensure you're eating fresh all year long by eating what’s in season.

Mystery Box Cooking Classes

Instructors: Chef Cortez and Armpit of Texas Cooking Show

What’s that weird ingredient in the back of your cupboard? Bring it! Chef Adan Cortez will be showing us how to make a masterpiece of a mystery box of food

Birding 101

Instructor: Karen Gleason

Join us for a class in basic birdwatching along the San Felipe Creek. Learn about some of the common bird species that call this area home. Bring your binoculars if you have them and meet at the garden.

Join Dr. Kevin Young, biology professor at Sul Ross State University, at the Del Rio Community Garden for an informative afternoon session as he shares useful information about adding restorative nutrients to your soil through composting.

Wine, food, cheese making and homestead survival—bring a friend and join us for an evening of tips and tricks to make your life tastier, easier and more economical. Be sure to stay after the class for the bonfire (and wine of course).
