The Del Rio Parks Foundation Animal Wellness Program was formed to show our love for local pets and aims to make our community a great place for dogs and humans alike. The program aims to fund community events, education and stronger animal welfare programs, like spay/ neuter and vaccine clinics, and microchipping. A donation in any amount goes towards a dedicated fund with these goals in mind. Funds are distributed based on vote by the Del Rio Parks Foundation Board of Directors.

Park Hours: The City of Del Rio parks are open from 6am to 10pm under an ordinance that established a park curfew from 10pm to 5am. Exceptions for special events may be made. For information on special event considerations, call (830) 774-8763.
MISSION
Here in Del Rio, we’re dog people! We love our pets and aim to make our community a great place for dogs and humans alike. The mission of the Dog Park Committee is to create a beautiful outdoor sanctuary that gives back through community events, education and stronger animal welfare programs--like reduced cost spay and neutering, vaccinations, and microchipping. The goal will be achieved through fundraising campaigns and events, and by working with local partnerships like AARC, Friends of Del Rio Animals, Val Verde Veterinary Hospital, Del Rio Veterinary Diagnostic Hospital, Val Verde County and the City of Del Rio. We’re here to inspire change, and influence healthy outcomes. Because when our pets are healthy, we are.

BENEFITS OF A DOG PARK
Owning a dog improves quality of life! Pet ownership is at an all-time high in Del Rio and research by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has shown the positive effects of owning a dog, like decreased depression and allergies, improved childhood development, and a more active lifestyle.
New parks increase livability! As Del Rio enhances the cities livability and neighborhoods, a dog park is an important part of the equation. Improved outdoor spaces enhance the quality of life for everyone.
Dog parks strengthen communities! Dog parks are a great place to meet new people, socialize with fellow dog owners, and allow dogs to participate in healthy, active socialization.
